I’m a creative director, graphic designer, copywriter, illustrator, art director and general maker of stuff. For the last two and a half years I’ve worked as the chief creative officer of Dear Future, a small branding and design firm in Brooklyn. Prior to that I spent nearly two decades at Disturbance, another branding and design firm I cofounded in South Africa. In between those two gigs, I spent a while freelancing, mostly here in New York.
Oh, and here's a short explanation of how I wound up calling my studio Happy Blood – Trace (my wife) believes I bleed for my work. She thinks that I look for the hardest possible way to do things. I’m not sure that’s true. I love what I do and I like doing it right. And the right way isn't always the easy way. Which I’m ok with. And if I bleed, it's Happy Blood.
